USA vs Australia World Cup 2026:
Match Day Travel Guide for Seattle
The US Men's National Team faces Australia at Lumen Field on June 19, 2026 at 3 pm ET. Seattle — one of America's most soccer-mad cities and home of the Sounders — is the perfect stage for a US team match. Here's how to make the most of it.
🇺🇸 USA vs 🇦🇺 Australia
The Socceroos made waves at Qatar 2022, reaching the Round of 16 with Harry Souttar and Mathew Leckie leading a gritty, counter-attacking side. The USMNT, playing on home soil, will carry the weight of an entire nation — and a Lumen Field crowd that is fanatical about soccer. This is one of the most anticipated American matches of the tournament.
Seattle is already sold out, with Sounders fans and USMNT supporters groups converging from across the Pacific Northwest. Lumen Field — shared home of the Sounders — will be louder than it has ever been.
🚇 Getting to Lumen Field
Lumen Field is in the SODO district, a 5-minute walk from the Link Light Rail's SODO station. This is the easiest stadium transit in the entire World Cup.
Link Light Rail (1 Line) — take any downtown station south to SODO station. The stadium is a 5-minute walk from the platform. Trains run every 8–10 minutes. From Capitol Hill: ~12 min. From SeaTac Airport: ~38 min.
King County Metro buses 21 and 37 stop on Occidental Ave S adjacent to the stadium. Good option from the Capitol Hill or Central District neighbourhoods.
Sounder commuter train to King Street Station (~10 min walk south along 1st Ave S). Good option if coming from Tacoma or Everett.
🎉 Seattle FIFA Fan Zone — Seattle Center
The official FIFA Fan Zone is at Seattle Center, in the shadow of the Space Needle. For a 3 pm PT kickoff (note: Seattle is 3 hours behind ET), plan to arrive at Seattle Center around 10–11 am for food, atmosphere, and merchandise before heading south to Lumen Field around noon.
The USMNT supporters groups — American Outlaw, ECS, and others — traditionally gather at bars along Occidental Ave S in the Sportsbook District just south of Pioneer Square, a 10-minute walk from Lumen. Expect the full pre-match experience there from 2+ hours before kickoff.

🏨 Where to Stay in Seattle
Downtown Seattle is perfect — you're walkable or one stop on the Light Rail from Lumen Field, and most hotels are within walking distance of the Seattle Center Fan Zone. Capitol Hill has more boutique options and is one Link stop from the stadium. Both areas have Seattle's best dining and nightlife for post-match celebrations.
💡 Match Day Tips
- →June 19 in Seattle means long daylight hours (~9 pm sunset) — wear sunscreen if you're in the upper tiers of Lumen Field in the afternoon.
- →ORCA card (Seattle transit card) works on the Light Rail — load it at SeaTac Airport on arrival or at any station. Faster than buying tickets at the gate.
- →The 12s Flag at Lumen Field flies when the stadium is sold out and roaring — this is going to be one of the loudest matches of the tournament.
- →Pike Place Market is on your way from downtown to the stadium (it's slightly out of the way but worth 30 min). Go early — it gets crowded on match days.
- →After the match, Pioneer Square has the best post-game bar scene within walking distance of Lumen Field. The stadium is in SODO, 5 min walk north.
